About the Native American Creek Tribe

The Creek tribe resides in the Southeast part of the United States, which is presently known as Georgia and Alabama. They joined a union that comprised of a few other tribes that also lived in the area. This union protected the member tribes from larger, hostile bands of Indians. After the great war of 1812, a peace treaty was signed between the United States and the Creek Indians. 

Fun Facts:
●    Europeans named the Creek Indians based on the Ocheed Creek (also known as the Ocmulgee River)
●    Each town they established was self-sufficient, having their own tribal council and land ownership.  
●    Their main shelter was thatched huts.
