This Silver Walking Bear Belt Buckle is a nice example of skilled craftsmanship and the symbolism of tribal cultures. Using the tribal animal of power and healing, Thomas hammered traditional images around the animal. Handcrafted from German Silver, it was cut out and overlaid onto another layer to form the design. Oxidized and buffed to a soft sheen, it's 3 inches by 2 inches with a 1-5/8 inches keeper. Handmade by Thomas A Begay and hallmarked, as such. Thomas (1955- ) was born in Many Farms, AZ. He learned the traditional style from his father but eventually switched over to Hopi overlay, a style that he has loved for as long as could remember. His wife of more than 40 years, Ilene (1948- ) helps him with the stamping.
